Consortis Signs Contract for Flood Protection Study in Alexandroupolis
We are pleased to announce that our company, Consortis, has undertaken the study for the flood protection of Alexandroupolis, specifically for the areas located to the east of the city. The contract was signed on Thursday, September 12, 2024, by the Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Giannis Zampoukis, and our company’s CEO, Giorgos Tsakoumis.
The study aims to protect the area from flood phenomena expected due to the issues arising from the recent fires of August 2023. It includes:
- Preparation of a topographical background suitable for the hydraulic study requirements.
- Conducting a hydrological study for each drainage basin.
- Hydraulic study to resolve uneven flow in areas experiencing stormwater drainage problems.
- Designing stream regulation works in sections where the geometry of the stream cross-section is deemed inadequate.
- Preparation of a geological study.
- Environmental permitting for the proposed works and communication with the involved authorities.
- Preparation of bidding documents.
The Mayor of Alexandroupolis, Giannis Zampoukis, stated: "This is a crucial project that will offer long-term solutions for the flood protection of our area. The local community has been severely tested by the fires, and preventing further disasters is our priority."
