Creative reuse of the primary school of Chrisochorafa

Our company undertook the study of the reuse of primary school of Chrisochorafa, an extremely remarkable building in Municipality of Iraklia, Serres.

Within the framework of the contract, the complete architectural surveying of the building was completed with the collection and processing of precision measurements utilizing modern techniques and tools.

More specifically the external recording included all those photogrammetric mapping processes for the production of three - dimensional models using unmanned vessels (drones).

It was chosen to sweep the building from above, in such a way as to create a grid of RGB images with exceptional clarity, in various lighting conditions and under different slopes, to produce as reliable as possible orthomosatic.

The internal mapping of the building was carried out using a portable hand - held scanner (laser scanner) based on the LiDAR and SLAM (simultaneous localization and mapping) technologies. The scanning of each floor lasted ~15' and allows for the 3D imprinting of any space no matter how complex and intricate it may be. From the final colored 3D point cloud, distances were measured and the characteristic incisions and facades and floor plans of the
building were revealed.

The study carried out by this contract refers to the reuse of an important building in the settlement of Chrysochorafa with uses of a kindergarten, centers for the creative occupation of children, cultural association and space exhibition of folklore content. In addition, a second existing building of small dimensions is designed as a
refreshment stand.

The interventions of the proposal are guided by the restoration of damages to the building, with respect to it, while at the same time an effort will be made to make it functional through design decisions both in terms of architecture and facilities.
