A child from the Balkans counts the stars!
We are thrilled to announce that Consortis is proudly sponsoring the First Balkan Student Summer School on Astronomy and Astrophysics!
Organized by the Balkan Physical Union, the Hellenic Physical Society and the European Physical Society, under the auspices of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, this groundbreaking event aims to inspire and educate the next generation of scientists in the Balkans.
Event Dates: August 26th - 30th
Location: American Farm School, Thessaloniki, Greece
The main objective of the summer school is to promote cutting-edge Physics and Astronomy education in Balkan schools. Participants will:
- Deepen their knowledge in Physics, Astronomy, and Astrophysics
- Forge connections with researchers and peers
- Discover the latest scientific breakthroughs
- Promote friendship among young Balkan citizens
Participants: 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls) aged 13-16 from the 10 Balkan countries, plus 25 Greek students selected to join.
Mentors: Astronomy and Astrophysics Professors and teachers will also be present to discuss integrating Astronomy into Balkan school curricula.
During the summer school, students will engage in activities within an Exploratory Learning Environment (ELE) featuring an AI-agent. This innovative approach allows real-time measurement of students' problem-solving skills.
We are proud to support this initiative that not only enhances scientific knowledge but also fosters unity and collaboration among the young minds of the Balkans.
