Study of Mikro Monastiri junction

This study concerns the improvement of a level junction between the Old National Road (O.N.R) Athens - Thessaloniki and the local roads to the settlements of Mikro Monastiri and Adendros, on
either side of the (O.N.R). The aim of the study is to improve the current situation in terms of ride quality and road safety, in order to avoid the development of high speeds and thus an increased
risk of fatal road accidents.

The study examined various solutions and provisions of level junctions (with or without light signaling), with the final most appropriate proposal being:

• Construction of a single lane roundabout, with four access branches, a central islet and a manoeuvre device on the branches of the (O.N.R).
• The application of appropriate horizontal and vertical signage
• Extension of the technician of the existing irrigation canal
• General improvement of the road infrastructure and rolling surface of motorized traffic.
